The Power of Blogs

The great thing about blogs is that they can be about anything and it is a fresh perspective from outside the mainstream. Do you love to travel? Start a travel blog and it becomes your unique view on the topic. For this post I want you to pretend this is your blog. Write a post about a recent experience you had with something you have a strong opinion about. It can be negative or positive. Your post should be 6-10 sentences at a minimum. Compare and contrast what you are writing about with other things similar to your topic. For example: If you are writing about a record from a particular artist, compare it to similar artists or the artists earlier work. Same for restaurants, etc. See examples for ideas. The key is to be passionate.
Ideas:
  1. Movie review - Compare two movies you recently saw and what you like or disliked about them.
  2. Book review - see movie review...
  3. Travel experience
  4. Restaurant review
  5. Fashion review
  6. Technology

  1. Recently, Camila Cabello released her latest album, Romance. It consists of 14 songs that describe her latest relationship with pop star Shawn Mendes. They describe her excitement to be out of her past relationship and into a new, loving one. Compared to her last album, Camila, this one has some new sounds. It has a more exciting, happy feel while her last one seemed like she was in a relationship where she wasn't happy. In her new album, she expresses her vocal range and gives us more of a range of soft to exciting songs than her last one. In Romance, we get more of a hopeless romantic Camila than a stressed one. Some of the best songs include My Oh My and Living Proof.

  2. I recently started listening to Harry Styles' new album called Fine Line. Compared to his older albums from his band One Direction, it is a completely different sound. His old music was a part of the pop genre, but now he is creating more Indie music. I like how he is exploring new sounds and styles. There are some similarities though. For example, he sings about the same topics compared to his old music. My favorite song off of the album is Watermelon Sugar. I would definitely recommend listening to his new album.

  4. Math Doesn't Suck!
This is the title of one of my favorite math books! This is the first of a 4 book series by Danica McKellar. This is great for middle school girls who need help in math. It covers everything from prime factorization to fraction rules. It also has testimonials from real life women whose lives have improved because of math. This is a great book to increase math self-esteem for girls. If you are interested in more "Math Doesn't Suck" material, there is a website. The link for the website is below. The other books are:

"Kiss my Math": This is great for middle school and high school, to review for pre-algebra.

"Hot X: Algebra Exposed": This is good for all you kids taking the Algebra Regents or if you need to review algebra for school.

"Girls Get Curves": Do you need to review geometry? Well, this book will do that and SO much more!

Remember to spread your wings and fly!
